VOLUNTEER NIGERIANS

      Credit: google.com. Volunteers.

Hello from around the world.

I am grateful to everyone who read my last title.

In that edition, I pointed we don't have to burn what we've tried for the entire length of our existence to build.

That is Nigeria.

No.

We can't toe that path.

But we can continue to build.

However frustrated.

However disappointed.

However exhausted.

We must build.

Everyone.

Nothing beautiful ever happens overnight.

We must immediately discard the impression that it's only going to take politicians and government to build a great Nigeria.

No.

It everyone's duty.

Me.

You.

Clerics.

Businessmen.

Politicians.

Everyone.

The sense of belonging we want to have in this nation will be the one we apportion ourselves.

We have a beautiful country that all of us don't deny.

An admirable country with a fair weather, awesome beaches and a verse biodiversity.

A tourist destination.

We just must keep sentiments aside and build this country, government and citizens alike.

And it has to be now.

There's no other way.

It becomes unethical to fold our arms and do nothing for excuses bordering on tribe, religion, politics and ego.

Every Nigerian must be a ready volunteer.

We must physically and financially support nation building.

We can clean the streets, maintain street lights, support community and national security, secure schools, sponsor girl children from the North to school, even as a southerner or westerner and it could be any child and all these properly done by getting government approvals.

You can't imagine how adorable it'd be to see residents of Aba and their sons from cities and in diaspora flying in to join the government on the street to pick trash.

Man, this is the community we are talking about.

Those who can't join on ground to clean can send in donations to sponsor refreshment, caps and sunglasses.

Here is a summary of my point;

Nigerians have left their duties and some don't even know them.

Hence the call for citizens' education.

Very crucial.

Government must put big money to ensure citizens know what they should be doing and how to go about it.

We can work to correct all the abnormalities in our space if we hang on as a nation.

We can achieve anything, if we'd take the challenge to remain one people.

I learnt from married friends, that unity in marriage takes a decision to stay one regardless of individual differences.

Nations all over the globe are just like this, with some tightly united ones even more diversified than us.

We must forgive Nigeria her trespasses as we expect God to forgive ours.

No place like home.

And, no home is perfect.

But home would remain home.

Tales from our siblings in diaspora allude to this fact.

Form or join an existing volunteer group addressing a core societal issue.

Apportion your time and a part of your salary or business profit that will go into donations each month maybe to pay for maternal care for someone who couldn't afford it somewhere in Nigeria, buy HIV drugs for people suffering from AIDS, buy books for child in poor regions of Nigeria, not your village or state people alone, instead whoever is in dire need of assistance.

Simply put, join or form a volunteer group that would support an aspect of the nation; children, elderly, education, environmental safety, Agric, etc

Just something you do for your nation and not for any financial compensation.

Place Nigeria above money, tribe, religion and political divide lines.

We must preserve this country.

We must preserve this country.

We cannot amount to greatness waiting pessimistically for leadership to fail because they were not our candidates at the elections.

Our call is to serve Nigeria, not the government;

With love,

And strength,

And faith.

To deviate, is to stray.

When a house burns, all in it burns with it.

Lets put out the fire in Nigeria, not ignite it.

Start today to contribute your money, time and skills to do something profitable to Nigeria and Nigerians.

Organizations can spring up to support the police, the army and our entire armed forces in helpful ways.

We can come out to clean our state or any state we reside at meaningful intervals, rich, poor, middle-class.

We can pay legal fees of oppressed citizens who can't afford legal fees.

If government fails, citizens can succeed.

We must start now, if our children must not cry the same tears.

We must work for this country, the exact same way we work for ourselves.

Nigeria must start to concern everyone.

We must cease to call her unfitting names.

We must cherish her.

We must sing her praise, as the heroic nation whom through her strength, fed Africa and bought her freedom from colonialism from her towering pyramids of harvested Agric abundance.

A queen nation floating on hidden treasures.

Curated in the midst of Edenic beauty.

We may say we have fallen.

Even the mighty falls.

By God, Nigeria will rise again.

Cheers.
