Nigeria has suffered the loss of countless precious lives and properties since 2009. That was the year an ugly stranger emerged — Boko Haram , a violent terrorist sect that has plagued our nation ever since. Before Boko Haram ’s rise, Nigeria was already struggling with tribal skirmishes and intermittent religious clashes that often took the lives of innocent Christians. Over the years, cruel public killings have occurred —among the most shocking being the mob killing of Deborah Samuel Yakubu in Sokoto State , murdered by her fellow students who accused her of blasphemy. Tragically, no one was brought to trial for her death. Most of these killings have been carried out by Islamic extremists who claim their actions are in defense of their faith. February twenty-third is the presidential election of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and so I feel a strong need to put this written note in the archive of history. It is important you vote ! Yes, it is. Even the election that brought President Donald Trump of the United States to power is still questioned, just like ours have been.  I am not trying to uphold electoral malpractices or give excuses for why we can't be the first or among the few to have one, I am only saying it is wrong to slam "Not Credible" on our electoral procedures.  That is not fair!
