'POLITICS' ANOTHER WORD FOR 'FRAUD'?

During the presidential media chat with His Excellency President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the president clearly stated that there was POLITICS playing out in the on going ASUU Strike. He backed this up when he said his government was willing to give the Union more than any government had given in the past yet the lecturers had refuse to call off the strike.

Another case was in the press briefing of the Board of Directors of the ill-fated Associated Airlines that was conveying the corpse of the former governor of Ondo State. During the questioning section, one of the directors said, 'lets not play politics here' when one of the members was trying to maybe evade some necessary questions.

It is too certain that the APC will speak against any innovation the PDP brings up and PDP will do the same of APC, just be sure to listen to the news or read the newspaper and you would remember you read this. This is even when the general public sees those innovations as a welcome development. And guess what! It is all in the name of POLITICS.

Even as I write this, one of my favorite programmes, THISMORNING on TVC is on and it is considering 'The ban on political and religious gathering by the police' and the presenter asked the question 'Do you think this is political?'. Some weeks ago, some G7 governors meeting was interrupted by the police and this they also termed as POLITICAL.

What on earth is POLITICS?

Is it using the power vested on you by voters to oppress people or is it painting others black so you could smell of rose?

Is it getting other people to spill their blood just so you can use them to prove your own point or have personal REVOLUTION as many embattled leaders are quick to say we need?

Is it radicalizing the youth so that they could rig elections just so that someone can win an election?

Does politics mean lies, fraud, make-believe, thuggery or gamble?

Then the famous Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs may be right when he said in a movie 'In politics nothing is black or white rather everything are in their shades of grey' and if this is true then it is okay for someone playing the GAME of politics, just to borrow Atiku's word when he described POLITICS as a dirty GAME, to call a Spade a shovel or trowel just for the simple reason that they look slightly alike.

Boko Haram insurgency is political. Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike is political. The ban on gathering in airports is political. The national conference is political, even though we were clamouring for it for years, and so many other ills of society have been tied to politics.

Can any thing good then come out of this politics or maybe I should say NIGERIAN POLITICS?

Is there bad and good politics? From simple reasoning, if politics mean lies, fraud, make-believe and thuggery, then who are POLITICIANS?

It breaks my heart each time I find aspirants for gubernatorial offices or the presidential office come to tell us unrealistic things. It scares me because having this people in office will further elongate our years in the shackles of poverty, pains and unemployment.

I fear when we have lives threatened or even cut short by politicians for same political reasons and you want to ask, for whose interest was that, mine or yours? HELL NO!!!!!

How can someone who took someone's life, secure or protect lives.

How can someone who embezzled tax payers money end poverty?

I beg all our revered politicians to begin to fear God under which all things hold together. I want to see a Nigeria where an aspirant would step down for another one just because he saw the sincerity and genuineness of his opponent's vision for our dear country.

Lets bury our selfish interest and seek that of Nigeria. Let's not be blind followers of parties, let's be wise followers. Vote for the man come 2015 and not the party.

There is no limit to how far we can go together as a nation if we choose to play TRUTHFULLY rather than play POLITICS.

As politicians you could dare to be different and become a hero, heroine and mentor for us 'youngies' who are future leaders.

We want to look back and thank God you ruled us.

We want to be proud you are a Nigerian.

We want to read you biography so that we can carefully walk in your footstep to greatness.

We want to go to Cinemas and watch a movie done to your honour.

It is very possible but it begins with you and me.

So I say Nigerians, let's not vote to save a Party, let's vote to save Nigeria.

Remember we are the Change that we have been praying for.

God bless Nigeria and God bless TLF readers.
