INDEPENDENCE FROM BONDAGE

Independence is a state of being free and not depending on others but doing the things that give you peace, joy, wealth, happiness and fulfilment within an unbiased law.

It is absolute freedom from the things that held you short of becoming your full potentials.

It is the privilege to express freedom of speech, movement, associations and every aspect of your rights without any form of oppression.

It is the luxury of flexing ownership of your biological territory without intimidation.

Independence is walking free, talking free, living free, learning free and even dying free.

Independence is swinging your hands and legs without being deterred by chains and shackles.

Independence is the total opposite of Bondage.

Independence is the cry of every creation humans, animals and plants.
Men, women and children....Black, White and Asian, we all want to be free.

However, for many mostly in Africa, this is a far cry.

Today, Nigeria is 59 and Sowore is in incarceration for calling a protest for a better Nigeria and Nnamdi Kalu can't be proud to call his motherland, home because he shares a common vision of a truely and totally Independent Nigeria or nothing else.

Every nations independence began with self determination and a desire to no longer be held bound unjustly.

Soldiers and police can easily match you on a frog jump or even shoot you dead in a democracy.

A huge violation of human right.

Political leaders have no respect for the rule of law, except for the ones that favour them, take for the instance the case of Dasuki.

The constitution is interpreted, reinterpreted, misinterpreted and uninterpreted to justify the course of the Big Man.

The things we experience in our democracy in many instances matches what exist in dictatorship.

Lawyers in Nigeria has withheld a candidate’s election without a High School certificate in the nations apex office over another with a university degree. What message does this tell our younger generation: Education is not important.

INEC, the national electoral conducting body has disqualified Mrs Natasha Akpoti, a lawyer and a candidate of SDP after it said in the past that it has no such power to disqualify a candidate a party calls qualify. What message does this tell the youth: The constitution is invalid.

INEC said it is disqualifying a candidate and party generally because its Deputy Governor's candidate is young, 34. What message is here: You cannot fulfil your potentials as a youth in Nigeria.

The court has ordered the release of Sowore and Dasuki but both are still in detention. What message again does this teach our young ones: There is no law in Nigeria.

In Nigeria we can precisely predict the outcomes of court rulings just by looking at the plaintiff and the defendant.

Is it freedom not be free to drive a car and smell good without SARS molesting you.

Is it freedom for you to be issued a frog jump or flogged by soldiers for taking a call at a checkpoint, however important.

Is it freedom to be arrested and detained by national security agents just to ask for absolute freedom or self determination.

Or, is it freedom, not to exercise your total rights as a citizen of the country that is your only genuine earthly home.
Let us mend our ways.

In the wake of the Xenophobic attack in South Africa, the reality still remain that you cannot demand the freedom you don't have in your father's house in another man’s father's house.

In other words, we'd only be as free out there as much as we are free in here and vice versa.

How independent are we when education, innovation and creativity are restricted or completely obliterated especially if it will not bring exclusive benefits to the few ruling class even if it would be in the interest of the entire populace.

Independence means being allowed the freedom to exercise in full capacity the entire right of your entity or office.

It is being free from poverty.

It is being free from insecurity.

It is being free from gender based violence.

It is being free from tribal and religious bigotry.

It is being free from bad leadership.
It is being free from oppression and intimidation.

It is being free from marginalization.
It is being free from a slavery and slave-master’s mindset.

However the good news remains that we can get it right if we want.

We can be a true giant of Africa and not the imaginary one.

We can be the example Africa can learn from.

We can show the world that Blacks are not self destructive but innovative and creative.

A lot has honestly changed between 1960 and now and only those who follow trends know this and according to research as we progress in age, we decline in trends which also impact on our knowledge and decision making abilities.

We can appreciate the wisdom of the old but only a part of it can meet out present day challenges.

We do so much for our 95 years old grandma now, even to some of the things she did for us as babies , up to making very important decisions.

We more like take care of her like our baby.

Raise your hand if my grandma should be the next president of Nigeria, LOL.

See......no hand is up.

How would you hate my grandma so much, hahahaha.

We sincerely appreciate the “Labour of our Heroes Past” but it is time that the young men who are passionate about 5G technology, AI and robotics takeover.

We commend the courage of our founding fathers but it is time for their children to make decisions with the trainings and discipline they instilled in us.

We appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of grey haired and white beard professors but it is time to give fashionable new generational thinkers the opportunities to impound new theories instead of quoting old ones.

We applaud the infrastructures that our legends of old have put in place but it is time for skyscrapers, electric vehicles and tech rail systems, technology and inventions.

We celebrate the strength of our paleopatriots (“palaeo” is my professional jargon for “ancient” ~Earth Science) for bringing Independence to our country but it is time to allow the young, vibrant, intelligent, hardworking, innovative, inquisitive, smart, bright, creative, proactive and courageous Nigerian youths redefine Independence or Freedom if you like, the 21st century way.

And to close, Freedom is the fight of true heroes and Bondage is the weapon of Oppressors.

God bless Nigeria.....God bless Africa......God bless a United and God fearing world.

Happy Independence Day Nigeria.
